A
Few Words from the SuperNeighborhood President Betty Heacker:
In
1985 I left the food manufacturing business and bought a raggedly
little feed store on a rundown street called Washington Avenue.
My family and friends all thought that I had lost my mind.
Now they all think that I am a genius.
From my vantage point, as the principal owner of Wabash
Antiques and Feed, I have seen Washington Avenue transformed from a
faded, forgotten, once-great community to its new unfolding identity
as a hip, happening, and very cool place to be.
While most of the physical structures are being replaced and
the area is largely being re-populated, what remains is to re-build
a sense of community…that is one of the goals of our
SuperNeighborhood and it is a big reason why I am a part of the
parade team for the Washington On Washington Parade in March of
2007.
